…. to ruin our sleep. I got home and there was a powercut. The BBC news said that 2500 homes in Ringwood had been out, they had managed to get some up and working and there were only 600 still out. They expected them to be up by 2:00 Am. As it happened the power [...]

My kids (bless em) used to use my stomach overhang as an indicator of how overweight I was. Well I have been dieting again and exercising more and i know that the weight is starting to fall off. I can also see that the stomach overhang is getting smaller, so I must be losing it.
Since I started cycling again a few years ago I have covered well over 1000 miles. For each one of those miles I have carried a small toolkit and a spare inner tube, and never had a puncture. This morning I was in the garage getting ready for my ride and realised the toolkit was [...]
….Or at least a small part of it. The Avon Valley way runs from Salisbury down to Christchurch. Dawn and I have decided (or at least I have decided) that we will walk it this summer, not all in one go mind. Now back to my run… …Imagine if you will. It is 5:45 am, [...]
My daughters Lucy and Aimèe came round for lunch, together with Lucy’s fiancee Matt. Lucy and Matt were a bit hungover so it took them a while to liven up. The weather was gorgeous and the two girls spent spent time out in the garden with their feet in the paddling pool. A small water [...]
Set out to run 8 miles non-stop, with hills. Actually did 12 1/2 miles with the first 10.7 miles non-stop. Wow, extremely pleased with myself. I don’t know what has happened but something seems to have clicked into place. Maybe it was psychological due to the non-stop 8 miles at the beginning of the week, [...]
There is a hill just two miles from home that has defeated me all year. Not this morning, I tamed it, I beat the b*stard. The hill starts just as you get into the trees in the photo. It’s probably only 1/4 mile long and has a 4% incline but it is tough. I admit [...]
… And I did. Very pleased with myself this morning. I was out at 5:30, deliberately chose a flattish route and went for it. I had to give myself a severe talking to at 6 miles because my legs wanted to stop but I managed to keep it going. The last 1/2 mile was bloody [...]
… and every single word was f*ck. That was because I fell over while out running. I tripped over a tree root and landed full force on my right knee. As i landed I felt the knee twist. It seems OK now so i was probably being a baby. I am sure it will feel [...]
…. what they say. The latest tweet from Richard Branson. Should he really be telling everybody that he has been taught how to blow a vuvuzela? Maybe it’s just my dirty mind but does that sound rude to anybody else. Somebody else that should have thought more about the words they used are the people [...]
